Happy Saturday

Good morning and happy Saturday!
Hope your day is off to a great start.

As usual I was up early. Early mornings are nice and quiet.
I did my pt exercises, (after a cup of coffee).
I try to do the exercises three times a day and
it's good to start off the morning with the first set.

This afternoon Dan and I are going to the Hall family reunion. It is always fun to see family and eat good food!  We also have an auction to raise funds for this yearly reunion.  Everyone donates items for the auction and it is a lot of fun to watch and bid. Wonder what we will end up buying this year?

Take care

Liebster Award

Judy, from My Grateful Heart nominated me for the Liebster Award.
Thank you, Judy! It's an honor!

The Liebster Award isn’t really an award as much as it a meme, but it’s also a great way to find new blogs and make new friends! So I’m honored that Judy nominated me and I’m happy to participate. Thank you again, Judy

4. provide 11 random facts about yourself.

5. nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)

6. Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.

7. List these rules in your post (I have the no right click script on my blog, so if you choose to accept, email me & I'll email you the rules.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:

Tuesday 4 Meme

A lot of my blogging friends are participating in memes,
so thought I would give this one from Toni a try.

#11 Personal Preferences

1. Quiet evening at home or Out on the town?
I mostly like a quiet evening at home. But sometimes out on the town can be lots of fun!  When I was younger I enjoyed out on the town much more.

2. Watch a movie or Reading a good book?
I have to say both.  I have always enjoyed reading and movies are fun.

3. Order a meal or cooking one yourself?
I enjoy cooking for family dinners and events more then just the normal daily routine of cooking.

4. Going for a walk or taking a ride in the car?
I love going for a walk, but due to my bad knees I haven't been able to do this for quite some time. I just had my left knee replaced and will have the right knee replaced this fall. I enjoy taking rides in the car as well.

love my family & friends

Let me start by saying, we have wonderful family and friends. We are very blessed.

After making sure I was ready to be home alone, Dan went to the cottage Friday and came back today. He had to cut the grass and do some maintenance.  He took Bentley with him and I had Tucker here with me.
I was checked on several times a day and evening by phone, not only by Dan, but several friends and family. Thank God we still have our home phone line because my cell phone died Friday shortly after Dan left!  I kept in contact with lots of people with FB private messaging, the next best thing to cell phone text messaging. I chatted with Kelly quite a bit over the weekend. MISS HER!
Saturday was a fun day. My friend Cindy came to visit Saturday afternoon. She brought me watermelon and a delicious red velvet cupcake.

My Mom came Saturday afternoon as well. Had a nice visit and she brought me a really cute gift from her recent trip to my happy place, Mackinac Island.

This cute little sign is from my favorite Mackinac Island shop,
love my Mom!

Saturday evening my brother Tim and sister in law Jennifer brought over dinner. We ate together, had a very nice visit, and they cleaned up the kitchen.   I was complaining to Jennifer how weeds were taking over my flowers outside and she offered to pull weeds for me!  I kept telling her, thank you Jen, but no, you don't need to do that.  She wouldn't take no for an answer! She went outside and pulled of all of the weeds around the back of the house. It looks so much better. That was so thoughtful, so kind. Thank you Jennifer. Tim took Tucker for a couple walks, played with Tucker, giving him lots of attention.  Tucker loved it!

Sunday afternoon my friend Julie and her daughter Maddie came over and spent a couple hours with me, just chatting.  Julie took Tucker on a nice, long walk while she was here.

Thank you family, thank you friends for checking up on me this weekend, for hanging out with me, sending messages and talking on the phone.  You all helped fill my weekend with love and smiles.

Summer?

This summer is flying by! Hard to believe it is August 9 already.  My recovery is going well, but I am certainly realizing this is a slow process.  I am still using the walker but I am able to do more around the house. Going up and down the stairs with the aid of handrails and my cane, doing easy chores in the kitchen, etc.   Oh how I wish I could get out in the yard and do some gardening! Weeds have overtaken all of my flowers. It will be quite awhile before I will be back to that.

Kelly and Josh are in Indiana now. I miss them so much. I am still sad that they moved away, but I am adjusting to this new situation.  It is fun to talk with Kelly about their new apartment and furniture shopping.  They are coming to cottage over Labor Day weekend with us, looking forward to that!!

Dan has been filling the Goldfinch feeders for me.
I love to watch those beautiful little birds.

Happy weekend.
xoxo
