Derek, Honey and girls were with us Friday night till Sunday afternoon. We had a great time. Dan and I stayed till Monday morning, then headed home.

We are in the middle of a winter advisory right now. Freezing rain and snow. I am posting this about 9:15pm, so we will see how things are in the morning.

Snowy Cottage & Flowers/Gifts Galore

 We are enjoying a snowy long weekend at the cottage. 

Lot's of snow here and the lake is frozen over pretty thick, we have seen cars/trucks out on the ice.
My nephew Derek and his family will be later this evening to spend a couple days. The kids are excited to play in the snow!

Wanted to show you the flowers that Kelly's boyfriend,  Josh sent her. Three of the arrangements are hers..one arrangement, the tulips are mine.  Kelly posted this on fb and it's so sweet I had to share the pic and what she said.  :)

"I guess this is what happens when I tell my boyfriend I don't like flowers Lol! He has sent me a gift almost everyday this week. Earrings, chocolate covered strawberries , along with flowers for my mother. Probably the most sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me & I feel so blessed. I think I'll keep him" ;)

 

Isn't that so sweet? Josh in the Marines, stationed in North Carolina, so they aren't able to see other often. God bless them both.

Happy weekend & Yowindow

We have had snow flurries off and on today. Haven't had any accumulation to speak of, just a light dusting. 

How do you like my YoWindow this evening?  Last night on YoWindow  I was treated with a fireworks show.  Sometimes during the day I will see horses grazing!  It is a pretty neat screensaver. Weather and pretty scenery.   Click here if you want to get it for your computer.

Happy Valentine's Day

It has been a nice Valentine's Day.   

 Dan and I went out for  lunch and did some shopping at the mall.  We enjoyed delicious, gourmet burgers at bar145.  If you aren't familiar with bar145, check out their website.  
We went to the  Pandora Store at the mall,  I chose the Red Love Pink Hearts Murano Glass charm for my bracelet.  

I just got my bracelet recently, so I haven't collected a lot of charms yet.  There are so many to choose from and they are all so pretty! 
We also checked out a fairly new store, Bumble Olive Oil Company. 

 We tasted several samples of flavored oil olives and balsamic vinegar.  We ended up buying two bottles of the olive oil and two bottles of vinegar. I chose Blood Orange Fused Olive Oil and Cranberry Pear White Balsamic Vinegar. The two of them paired together have a fabulous taste!  Dan chose Organic Butter Infused Olive Oil and he chose a Blueberry Balsamic Vinegar.  Dan enjoys cooking so he will put these to good use. 

Now we are home, enjoying a cozy, rainy afternoon.

A Brave Young Woman

I am posting this anti bullying ribbon in support of brave young woman, Chase, who is the sister of my daughter in law, Sabrina.  Chase was attacked on the school bus by a fellow student while another student video recorded it and posted it on Facebook and other websites. Chase is OK physically, thank God.  There is  a lot to the story,  you can read about it here and here.  Bless you Chase for wanting to make a stand and bring awareness to this issue!
Please keep Chase and her family in your prayers.

Delightful Candle Jars

Candles are one my favorite things. The more fragrant the better!  I prefer "homey" scents like vanilla, cinnamon, hazelnut, gingerbread, I could go on and on. I buy a lot of candles and receive many as gifts. I burn candles everyday! In the process I have an almost endless supply of empty glass jars once the fragrant beauties have finished. I suppose I could make my own candles and refill the jars,  but I don't have that kind of  ambition . hee hee.
 So, instead of disposing of the jars, I used them for storage.  
 I have a few to clean up  right now,  so that is one of my jobs to tackle this week.

This is one of my jars before a  thorough cleaning.

Now here is one of my clean, sanitized jars put to good use!

Below is small rustic looking candle jar that I filled with tiny Christmas balls.

 I use these jars to store a number of things.  

I am sure you can think of things to store in empty candle jars!

Snowy Saturday

Happy Saturday! It is a snowy day here. We are supposed to get up 3 inches of snow today and possibly another inch or so the next couple of days.
