This is how we rolled

This is our family, I am guessing about 1970.

That's me on the far left..yellow wind breaker
and very cool knee socks. 😏

Those were days. Dad, Mom and all five of us kids
going places in that red station wagon.
Great memories, especially sitting
in the rear facing back seat goofing off with my sister.

Funny this showed up on Facebook yesterday!

Police bring awareness to domestic violence

I saw this inspiring story on our local new this evening.

If you are in an abusive relationship, remember:
1. You are not alone.
2. It is NOT your fault.
3. Help is available.

Non-Toxic Life

A new year, new possibilities!
I am starting this new year with plans and goals of
making my life non-toxic in all areas.
Mentally, spiritually, physically and in our home.

I may be 60 years old but I know this...

We all know people who are toxic, they may even be a family member.
Toxic relationships affect our mental and physical well being, in a very negative way.
Walk away.

For years I have tried all types of eating plans, dieting, etc. I seem to start out motivated but lose interest after a while and give up.   My desire is to lose some weight, get off of blood pressure medication and eat to feel well. I admit I love sugary treats and desserts way too much!
So, my first step is to stop eating anything with added sugar.  My goal is to eat low carb/Keto. I am still investigating it, but I know a few people personally who have been successful with this plan.

Exercise, oh dear, I have such a love/hate relationship with it!
When I am in the routine of exercising I enjoy it.   How I wish I never let it go!
I recently found an exercise program that I really like. It is fun, low impact, low stress and fun music that makes me want to move!  It is called body groove, the instructor is Misty Tripoli. She has workout DVDs and online workouts.
They are dance-based workouts, crazy dance workouts for my living room!

I am replacing the toxic products in our home,
with safe, non-toxic products.
Sharing a pic of some the many things I am replacing.
I am excited to finally take this step.

blessings,
Pam

toss the cookies

It has been a month filled with Christmas cookies, candy, so many goodies.
I am ready to make a decision, a choice to eat healthier.
It is time to nourish my body to feel better and lose some weight.
I am researching a couple different options.
I will share here and blog occasionally about my new eating style
once I make an educated decision!

How about you? Are you going to try to eat healthier in this new year?

Be blessed!

I'm back...with Christmas family pics

I have been thinking and thinking about getting back into blogging again. So, here I am at my old blog, my favorite, Splashes of  Joy. I haven't used this blog since early 2015.  The links to my other blogs are listed down on the right side of this page.  I will keep the links there for reference.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We had a blessed and fun time with family.  Many of our family, including some of the kids and grandkids were out of town this year, but it was still very nice day!

Sharing some pics of our grandkids, taken during the Christmas holiday.

when it snows...bake cookies

Last Sunday and Monday we had a big snowstorm.
We ended up with about 13 inches of snow!

This is what happens when you are cozy at home during a snowstorm.

Chocolate Saltine Cracker Cookies

Ingredients:
1 1/2 - sleeves saltine crackers (approximately)
1 1/4 - cups unsalted butter,  best to not use margarine
1 1/4 - cup dark brown sugar
1 - 12 oz package  semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil that has been sprayed with a bit of non stick spray.

Arrange
crackers on sheet in one layer. In a medium sized saucepan melt the butter and the brown sugar.

Stir often and bring to a full rolling boil.  Boil the mixture for  3 minutes.

Pour over the saltines and bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips all over the caramel/cracker mixture. Set aside to cool.  Refrigerate for about one hour. Break into pieces.

sad, yet thankful

I haven't felt like updating my blog, but feel I should update for those who may not know. December 22 was a very sad day for our family.   That was the day my Dad went to be with the Lord, he is no longer here with us on this earth.  I miss him so much, wish I could talk to him and give him another hug.
But I am thankful for the time I had with him and all of the memories.
I am thankful I will see him again, as this life on earth is only temporary.
I am thankful that my eternal home is in heaven, where I know my Dad is now.
I am thankful for the legacy of faith and trust in God that my Dad left us with.  A legacy I will pass on.
Please keep my precious Mom and our family in your prayers.

 God bless you
