Birthday Blessings and Baby Watch

Yesterday was our granddaughter, Rixci's 8th birthday.

  Eight years old, time flies!!

We had a fun time celebrating!

The homemade strawberry cake was delicious. Kelly did a great job!

We are waiting for the new baby to arrive! Kelly's due date is actually today! They didn't find out if this baby is a girl or a boy, so we are all making our guesses.  I am guessing a girl. I suppose because they have two boys, Everett (9) and Forrest (6).  Rixci would LOVE to have a little sister.  She will be a great little helper either way.  So, we are officially on baby watch, waiting for the call!  I will stay with the grandkids while Kelly is in the hospital.

Here is pic of Kelly and I from a couple of weeks ago.

Summer?

This summer is flying by! Hard to believe it is August 9 already.  My recovery is going well, but I am certainly realizing this is a slow process.  I am still using the walker but I am able to do more around the house. Going up and down the stairs with the aid of handrails and my cane, doing easy chores in the kitchen, etc.   Oh how I wish I could get out in the yard and do some gardening! Weeds have overtaken all of my flowers. It will be quite awhile before I will be back to that.

Kelly and Josh are in Indiana now. I miss them so much. I am still sad that they moved away, but I am adjusting to this new situation.  It is fun to talk with Kelly about their new apartment and furniture shopping.  They are coming to cottage over Labor Day weekend with us, looking forward to that!!

Dan has been filling the Goldfinch feeders for me.
I love to watch those beautiful little birds.

Happy weekend.

a month of change

This past month has brought change.  On June 29, the joyful wedding of our beautiful daughter Kelly to Josh. We gained an awesome son in law and his family are all delightful. We feel blessed to have Josh as part of our family and I look forward to getting to know his family better.
My girl is a married woman now!  Of course I am still her Mama and always will be but it will be fun to hang out with her as two married ladies.  When they start a family down the road, oh boy, it will be so wonderful! OK, getting ahead of myself!

July 15, had my first knee replacement.  Now that was a big change getting a new body part and I am recovering from that slow but sure. My loving husband, Dan has been taking great care of me. He is doing all the shopping, cooking, laundry, taking of our doggies and so much more. I am so grateful for him.  I am anticipating the complete change when my other knee is replaced and both knees are  healed.  I have a list of places I am going, things I will do.

The latest change is that Kelly and Josh are moving away in a couple of weeks. Josh was offered a job that he couldn't turn down. They will be about 3 hours away.  I am happy for them, this new job and adventure. But, I am sad that are leaving our area.  This is a Mama speaking, it may sound selfish, but I really wish they would have stayed in our area.  Going to miss them so much. I have to stop thinking about how this changes things. I know it's not far and it could of have been worse.  Just disappointed that they will be too far away to make impromptu plans with them, will be losing the comfort of having them within a short distance.  With God's help I am learning to accept all of this and I am doing my best to be supportive.  Kelly has told me several times that she will be back to visit, lots.  Thank God for that!  I need time with my girl. We will go visit them when we are able, but it will be much better to have them visit us and see friends, family and of course Bentley and Tucker!

mother, daughter & friend time

Yesterday Kelly and I did some wedding shopping, went to the florist and confirmed the flower order and enjoyed  a nice dinner out at Applebees.  We had a nice mother and daughter time talking wedding details! This is an exciting time, I feel very blessed to be the mother of the bride, a beautiful (inside and out) bride.

This evening my dear friend Cindy took me to a few places I have never been.  We had a great time catching up with each other.

First stop.. So Sweet Lebanese & French Pastries
Cindy had an order to pick up, so I took advantage of tasting some yummy samples!

Next was an early dinner at  Mama Lascola's Italian Kitchen
I had a very delicious salad and the presentation was gorgeous! I know, I should have taken a pic!

After dinner we popped in at a bookstore, People Called Women.  Very interesting book shop, and they sell other locally made merchandise. I bought a book, 'Just A Daughter' by Sarita Skagnes.   I am trying to get a stash of books together for my time after surgery.  I don't think I can wait to read this one.

Happy Birthday Kelly & Missing my British friends

Well, it's been awhile since I have updated. It has been a busy few weeks, that's for sure.

Kelly just celebrated her 25th birthday, November 11. Hard to believe our baby is 25!!

Dan and I, Kelly and Josh and my youngest son Chris all went out to Cheesecake Factory to celebrate, along with some shopping.  Had a great time together.

Our dear friends, Tina and her daughter Simone, were here in our area, from England for about ten days with a mission team group that Tina was leading. They did a lot of youth out reach, ministry work, etc. Plus some sight seeing and touristy type outings. I spent much of the the time with the group, helping drive and work along side with them. It was wonderful. I miss them all so much.

weekend greetings

`
Well, tomorrow is the first day of Autumn! YAY!  My favorite season is just a few hours away.
September is a busy month in our family, not only celebrating a new season, but birthdays and anniversaries.

  • September 7~ My parents wedding anniversary
  • September 12~ nephew Derek's birthday
  • September 17~my birthday
  • September 19~cousin Tammy's birthday
  • September 20~ son Chris's birthday
  • September 21~daughter in law Darlene's birthday
  • September 26~brother Tim & sister in law Jennifer's wedding anniversary
  • September 29~niece Honey's birthday
And that isn't all of them!
Tomorrow afternoon is our church picnic! Lots of food, games, music and a bonfire. I am looking forward to it!! It is supposed to be a nice, sunny day, I look forward to sitting outdoors and visiting with everyone.
The wedding plans are going well. Kelly and Josh have done and I am impressed with what has been accomplished so far.  Today Kelly and I went to the caterer that they are thinking of using and had a food tasting. It was delicious. I am pretty sure they will go with this caterer.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
Be blessed.
